Today as our nation celebrates President's Day, honoring the birthdays of George Washington (Feb. 18th) and Abraham Lincoln (Feb. 12th) Here is something from each of them: a prayer from Washington and a quote about the Bible from Lincoln. "Bless O Lord the whole race of mankind, and let the world be filled with the knowledge of Thee and Thy Son, Jesus Christ...I beseech Thee to defend me this night from all evil, and do more for me than I can think or ask, for Jesus Christ's sake, in whose most Holy Name and Words, I continue to pray." George Washington from his prayer journal (Monday Evening) Lincoln stated the following upon receiving a gift of a Bible from a group of African-Americans from Baltimore: "In regard to this great book, I have but to say, it is the best gift God has given to men. All the good the Savior gave to the world was communicated through this book. But for it we could not know right from wrong. All things most desirable for man's welfare, here and hereafter, are to be found portrayed in it." [Sept. 9, 1864]

Day 21 (Final Day) - "The apostles said to the Lord, "increase our faith!" - Luke 17:5 As today we conclude this 3 week journey of looking at 21 dangerous prayers in the Bible today's prayer is fitting. Jesus, increase our faith. Jesus' disciples asked that when Jesus taught them to offer unlimited forgiveness. You will face situations and people that will bring you to the point where you are like: God, I cannot do this. I need You to increase my faith. God loves this dangerous prayer because we are designed to be dependent on Him. Here is a suggested prayer to ask the Author of your faith to increase it so that you can see God do the impossible! "God, there is no way I can what I know I am suppose to do on my own strength. I need You so much. I need You to increase my faith in the places and people I interact with today and this week. In Jesus Name. Amen. Note: thank you to all for going through this journey may it boost your own prayer life through this year. May you not be the same person as you were on January 1st.
Day 20 - "Now there was a disciple at Damascus named Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision, "Ananias." And he said, "Here I am, Lord." - Acts 9:10 Hearing God's voice is wonderful. We long for it. God's voice comforts and satisfies us. Yet hearing God's voice can lead you to hard and uncomfortable situations. So many times we hear from God through His Word or through an impression in prayer but then comes difficulty and we question did I really hear from God. This is what happened to Ananias when God told him to go meet Saul who just became a Christian and later his name was changed to Paul. Yet despite his questioning he obeyed and gave a message to him (Acts 9:17-19). Yet it all started with a dangerous prayer of, "here I am, Lord." Suggested prayer: "Lord, I am open and ready and willing to do what You ask me to do. Grant me the courage to see beyond my own feelings and challenges so I can be obedient to Your great mission just like Ananias was in Acts 9. In Jesus Name. Amen."
Weather Update for Service for Sunday, Jan. 20th. Tomorrow's service at 10:30 am is a go. But 9:00 am Bible studies are cancelled to allow people more time to shovel snow and crews to plow roads. Also, the prayer gathering at 5 p.m. will be rescheduled for next month due to frigid temps tomorrow night. Stay warm and stay safe. If there any more updates we will notify you tomorrow morning.
Day 19 - "Two things I ask of you: deny them not to me before I die: remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me, lest I be full and deny you and say, "Who is the Lord?" or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God." - Proverbs 30:7-9 Honesty and contentment are the pathways that lead to a life of integrity and generosity. Removing falsehood includes forsaking exaggerations, half-truths, and seeking to be truthful in all situations. The man who wrote this, Agur, is inviting God into his personal and private world. The world of his thoughts and needs so that he can be aligned to God's heart. Suggested prayer: "God, give me just enough to satisfy my needs. And also, Lord, grant me truthful lips that seek to please You and not any human relationship. I desperately need You for this dangerous prayer. In Jesus Name. Amen."
